Outbound Service Information
Some EPSKED users have Internet Service Providers whose Outgoing Mail Servers will not allow EPSKED to send emails (usually due to a requirement for authentication protocols unavailable to the EPSKED Email Manager). This problem can be easily resolved if you subscribe to a separate, inexpensive service that will work with EPSKED. Information about the MailHop Outbound service is available at:
http://www.dyndns.com/services/mailhop/outbound.html
ByteBloc Software has no association with this service; we simply know that it works.
After opening the link, click the "Add Outbound" button on the right side of the screen and follow the directions for ordering the service. The MailHop Outbound service is sold in blocks of 150 relays (emails sent) per day. Each block currently costs $19.95 for a one year subscription, plus an initial one-time $2 setup fee. Since the minimal 150 emails/day is enough for most EPSKED users, we suggest that you purchase one block. To do this, create a new account, then select "Add to Cart" to make the purchase. If you need assistance in making the purchase on line, please give us a call and we will guide you through it.
To email schedules from EPSKED to your providers you need to complete three steps:
1) Let EPSKED know the email addresses of the providers to whom you wish to send emails
2) Setup EPSKED to connect to the MailHop Outbound Mail Server, and check that this works correctly
3) Select EPSKED Email as your "printer" when you want to email copies of your schedules to your providers
Each of these steps is described in detail below.
Step 1: Let EPSKED know the email addresses of the providers to whom you wish to send emails.
- If you have already entered email addresses for your providers, skip to step 2.
- From the EPSKED Scheduler program Main Menu, select the "Customize EPSKED..." option to start the EPSKED Customizer program.
- From the Customizer program Main Menu, click on the "Provider...Contact info" dropdown menu at the top of the screen to display a form which you can use to enter the email addresses of each of your providers. When this is finished, click the "File...Create schedules" dropdown menu option to return to the EPSKED Scheduler.
Step 2: Setup EPSKED to connect to the MailHop Outbound Mail Server, and check that this works correctly
- From the scheduling program Main Menu, select the Options...Email dropdown menu. EPSKED will display the EPSKED Email Manager Information window.
- In the "Server:" entry area of the "Mail server setup" section in the upper left of that window, enter:
outbound.mailhop.org - In the "Port" entry area of the "Mail server setup" section, initially use the default SMTP Port setting of 25. If this does not work (which can occur if your Internet Service Provider is blocking that port) you may need to instead enter one of these other port numbers: 465, 2525, 10025, or 10465.
- The Outbound Outgoing Mail Server requires "authentication", check the Required checkbox, and enter the username and password that you select when you create your account on line.
- Click the "Send test email" button to send yourself an email. If you have not yet entered your own email address, you will be prompted to do so before the test email is sent.
- If the test email sent by EPSKED is received in your email program, you have successfully configured EPSKED to send email messages.
Step 3: Select EPSKED Email as your "printer" when you want to email the schedule to your providers:
- When you have a completed a schedule (or have a new schedule for which you want to send request forms), click the Print button.
- EPSKED displays the "EPSKED Print" window. From that window, use the "Current Printer (or select EPSKED Fax or Email)" dropdown listbox to select "EPSKED Email".
- EPSKED can email schedules in a variety of formats, selectable in the "File Types" area of the EPSKED Print window. The PDF format is usually the preferred type for printable schedules, though other formats may be useful depending upon your needs. The vCalendar options sends files that can be imported into the calendaring programs of most handheld devices.
