EPSKED Email Attachments

TIFF files

You have been directed to this web page by an email from your schedule administrator. This page contains detailed information about your schedule which was sent to you as a TIFF file.

Overview

EPSKED, the emergency physician scheduling program, can send schedules and schedule summaries as email attachments using several formats, including the including TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) files. TIFF is a compressed format commonly used to store images of documents. This format has been largely replaced by the Adobe Acrobat PDF file format, but TIFF files are still available from EPSKED.

Viewing your schedules

To display the schedule sent to you by your schedule administrator, try simply opening the email attachment from your email program. If you can view the schedule clearly, then you do not need to read this section.

If you don't know how to open attached files from your email program: The procedure for opening email attachment files varies between different email programs. If you are unsure, try simply double clicking on the name of the file attachment or its associated icon if either of these is shown. If you have continued problems, consult your help file for the program, searching under "attachments, opening" or "attachments, receiving" for further instructions.

On Windows: Windows XP and later automatically installs the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as the default program for viewing TIFF image files, and this works quite well for viewing and printing EPSKED's TIFF schedule files. If another program besides Windows Picture and Fax Viewer has installed itself as the default viewer for TIFF image files, and if that other program does not properly display or print your schedules, you should reset the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer program as the default viewer. To do this:

  1. Right Click on any TIFF file attachment or in Windows Explorer
  2. Select the Open With... or Open Attachment with... option from the dropdown menu that appears
  3. In the Open With window that appears, select Windows Picture and Fax Viewer
  4. Click on the "Always use this program to open this file type" checkbox so that it displays with a check mark
  5. Click the Okay button

Your TIFF schedules should now open correctly.

On the Mac OS:
TIFF files on the Mac normally open and display using the Mac's Preview program, from which they can be printed using the File...Print dropdown menu.

Alternatively, you can open a TIFF file by right-clicking on the file attachment and then selecting from the dropdown menu that appears Open With...Preview.app, which will open the file.

You can click File...Print at the top of the screen to print the file.
